Drew Gilmer, formerly the head football coach at Clay-Chalkville High School, was named Hoover’s next head football coach on January 5. Coach Gilmer’s Clay-Chalkville teams experienced success at the highest level, winning state championships two out of the last three years.
Gilmer said, “It’s a dream come true. Hoover High is the standard—no doubt about it. We’re going to continue that, and we’re going to build it. We will do everything that we can and everything in my power to make everyone proud. Winning is important, don’t get me wrong. We’re going to win. But we’re here to build young men. It’s a passion of mine and why I got into it.”
