Wife and mother of three Amy Jason turned her love of baking cookies into a fan-favorite shop that serves fresh-baked cookies and sells frozen dough in a variety of flavors. A Birmingham landmark for 85-plus years, Savage’s first opened in 1939 on Highland Avenue and later moved to its current location in downtown Homewood. Van Scott, Jr., purchased the bakery in 1978, briefly retiring in 2021 before returning to run the establishment in 2024.
